Bvlgari Merges High Luxury And High Tech With Connected Jewels

Providing greater transparency and traceability in the high jewellery space

Bvlgari Connected JewelsAt VivaTech 2025 — Europe’s premier tech and start-up event — Bvlgari unveiled Connected Jewels, a groundbreaking innovation that seamlessly blends heritage craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. The Roman Maison, renowned since 1884 for its visionary creativity, introduced the world’s first mobile application capable of recognising High Jewelry pieces via smartphone.

This patented technology reads engraved serial numbers as tiny as 0.7mm, giving each jewel a digital identity that offers clients unprecedented access to knowledge, traceability, bespoke content, and personalised care.

First debuted during the Polychroma High Jewelry event in Taormina, Connected Jewels marks a revolutionary step in client engagement and luxury experience. Through a simple scan using the Bvlgari Touch app, owners instantly access the Bvlgari Digital Passport.

Greater Traceability

This provides full transparency on the jewel’s origin, craftsmanship, materials, and aftercare, transforming ownership into an immersive, informed journey without compromising the Maison’s aesthetic values.

Bvlgari’s participation at VivaTech 2025, its fourth consecutive year, signals a commitment to pioneering meaningful innovation in luxury. “With Connected Jewels, we redefine innovation in high jewellery by marrying timeless craftsmanship with advanced technology, elevating client experiences emotionally and meaningfully,” said CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.

This initiative aligns with Bvlgari’s focus on sustainability and client-centricity while setting it apart as the only luxury brand to connect not just jewellery but also watches and bags within a unified digital ecosystem.

Smarter And More Efficient

The technical sophistication behind Connected Jewels is remarkable. Utilising advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) powered by artificial intelligence and computer vision, the system reads each unique serial code discreetly engraved on jewels. Developed in partnership with Italian software specialist Dev4Side, the platform integrates into the Bvlgari Touch app, centralising services such as product care, clienteling, and boutique operations within a seamless, intelligent system.

Beyond jewellery, Bvlgari also digitally links its luxury watches and bags. Watches feature datamatrix scans, while bags incorporate embedded NFC tags — creating a connected ecosystem that spans the entire Maison’s portfolio.

This digital layer, invisible to the naked eye yet transformative in impact, opens a new chapter for High Jewellery — a sector traditionally slow to embrace technological evolution. Connected Jewels deepens emotional bonds, enhances transparency, and encourages long-term engagement, all while preserving Bvlgari’s signature beauty and heritage.

Bvlgari’s VivaTech presence also followed its recent Polychroma collection launch, which featured avant-garde artistic collaborations and immersive mixed reality experiences, demonstrating the Maison’s relentless pursuit of innovation at the crossroads of art, luxury, and technology.
