The fashion world is abuzz with news of British designer Clare Waight Keller’s appointment as Givenchy’s new Creative Director following the departure of Riccardo Tisci from the house, founded in 1952. The announcement came accompanied by a portrait of Keller shot by Steven Meisel.
Keller, the former Creative Director at Chloe who brought a fresh femininity to the brand, had this to say about her new posting: “Hubert de Givenchy’s confident style has always been an inspiration and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this legendary house’s history. I look forward to working with the teams and writing a new chapter in this beautiful story.”
Keller’s enthusiasm is matched with that of Phillipe Fortunato, Chief Executive Officer of Givenchy. “I am very excited to see Clare bring her singular sense of elegance and modernity to Givenchy.” Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, too, is “very happy” with the appointment. “I believe her widespread expertise and vision will allow Givenchy to enter the next phase of its unique path,” says Arnault.
