01: SPANISH FIESTA
A century after the opening of Cristobal Balenciaga’s first fashion house in San Sebastian, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is holding an exhibition to celebrate the Spanish designer. Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion will explore his work from the 1950s and 1960s – touted as his most creative years – and showcase over 100 garments and hats including his signature tunic, sack, baby doll, and shift dresses. As a tribute to the godfather of haute couture, the exhibition also features the work of his proteges like Andre Courreges and Emanuel Ungaro. A must-visit for fashion nerds. Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion has been open at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, since May 27.
