Continuing The Peak’s 30th Anniversary celebrations this year, The Peak × She’s Mercedes gathered 26 successful women at The RitzCarlton for an afternoon of delicious food and stimulating conversation. Guests of honour YB Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, and Puan Suryani Senja Alias, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Kraftangan Malaysia helped lead the discussion on preserving Malaysia’s cultural heritage particularly its craft. On hand to welcome the guests were Mindy Teh, Editor-in-Chief of The Peak Malaysia, as well as Elaine Hew, General Manager of Marketing Communications at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
At the Private Room at The RitzCarlton, Mindy Teh moderated the session with the guest speakers on the state of Malaysia’s cultural heritage, focusing specifically on the crafts and the women who often lead the field in the local crafts scene. The group explored some of the challenges facing the local crafts industry and the conversation continued with a thought-provoking discussion during the Q&A session with guests. The women in attendance spoke out on the roles they could play in bringing Malaysian craft back into the spotlight not just for Malaysians but also in the international scene.
