What started as a love for movement has grown into a mission to build community. Entrepreneur and instructor Syed Harris is inspiring people to see fitness not just as exercise, but as connection.
For Harris, the path into fitness wasn’t linear — it was driven by passion and creativity. While studying Business Management at university, he always knew entrepreneurship was his calling. What he didn’t yet know was how to combine his love for fitness, food, and fashion into something that felt truly authentic.
“I knew entrepreneurship was the direction,” Harris reflects. “But I didn’t know the exact area at first.” That clarity came the day he attended his first spin class.
Drawn in by the pulsing music, the rhythm, and the connection between instructor and riders, Harris was instantly hooked. “It got me out of my shell,” he says. “When I went up on that podium, everything clicked.” Within weeks, he was invited to audition and soon after became an instructor himself.
“I love hosting because I’m part of the community. I’m not just talking about fitness — I live it” – Syed Harris
Coming from a bodybuilding background, Harris brought a distinctive intensity to the spin studio. What began as a side hustle quickly turned into a full schedule, powered by his energy, charisma, and growing community. But teaching alone wasn’t enough — he wanted to create something of his own.
“I saw what I had to offer,” he explains. “I’ve always been community-focused, and there was an opportunity to build something special — to create positive energy in the fitness scene.” That vision led to Journey, his own spin studio, founded on the pillars of connection and community.
Finding His Rhythm

Journey launched just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit — an unexpected challenge for a young entrepreneur. “We’d only just opened when Malaysia went into lockdown,” Harris recalls. “We barely started classes before everything shut down.”
Instead of stepping back, he adapted. Journey became one of the first local studios to offer virtual sessions, keeping clients active from home. That resilience became the brand’s foundation and shaped its growth over the next five years.
Beyond the studio, Harris expanded Journey into a run club, wellness retreats, brand collaborations, and a line of apparel. “The biggest lesson Journey taught me,” he says, “was how to build a brand — something that lives beyond daily operations.”

After several successful years, Harris made the decision to move on — not out of burnout, but from a desire to grow. “I wanted more control,” he explains. “I needed to deliver experiences where people could take away something more meaningful.”
Today, Harris remains a leading voice in Malaysia’s fitness scene, hosting and emceeing major events such as Red Line Games and The Sky Race, while continuing to teach. “I love hosting because I’m part of the community,” he says. “I’m not just talking about fitness — I live it.”
Looking ahead, Harris believes fitness will become increasingly social and inclusive. “People are looking for their tribe. That’s the future,” he says. For now, his focus is on growing his personal brand and curating immersive wellness experiences.
His mission is simple: to help people experience fitness not just as a workout, but as a lifestyle.
