In a modern world, with shortened attention spans resulting from information overload, perhaps it’s time to take a step back and be with the people that matter to us while doing the things that we are passionate about. For me, that passion would be music. I actually did a postgraduate in Peking opera, which is a form of Chinese opera that combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics. Music touches my heart in a way that nothing else can and I personally feel that certain songs are so much better at conveying emotions. It’s difficult to pinpoint when exactly I started developing this as a hobby, but my parents have always told me that I started singing before I learnt to talk. Music, for me, is very relaxing and a good song with great lyrics always makes my soul sing! So, I suppose my goal this year would be to visit the karaoke more often with my children and buddies, where we’ll be belting our hearts out while enjoying the world and life as it is.
