Abbey Road Studios Mode makes global debut in Volvo EX90.
Volvo Cars has embarked on a new era of audio technology with the global debut of Abbey Road Studios Mode. Developed in collaboration with legendary British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins and the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, the feature captures the studio’s iconic acoustics and sonic signature—bringing a piece of music history into the car.
Available to EX90 models equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity Audio system, this cutting-edge mode is being delivered as a free over-the-air (OTA) update in the coming weeks. It marks a significant step in Volvo’s transformation into a fully software-defined car company, and one of its most distinctive OTA enhancements to date.
A Piece Of Music

Abbey Road Studios.
Abbey Road Studios Mode redefines automotive audio by simulating the unique character of the London studio where music legends like The Beatles and Pink Floyd recorded. Offering a series of curated acoustic presets and a Producer Mode, it allows drivers to personalise their listening experience—modifying stereo width, tonal warmth, and spatial acoustics to suit their tastes, much like a studio engineer.
Jeremy Huffelmann, General Manager of Abbey Road Studios, described the collaboration as “a landmark in immersive audio. “We’re hugely proud to bring the studio’s signature sound to Volvo customers for the first time.”
The Volvo EX90’s ultra-quiet cabin and 25-speaker, 1610-watt Bowers & Wilkins system—capable of delivering Dolby Atmos content—set the stage for an uncompromising audio journey. Each system has been precisely tuned in partnership with both brands’ engineering teams, elevating the in-car experience to new heights of sophistication.
Future EX90 and ES90 models will feature Abbey Road Studios Mode from the factory, reinforcing Volvo’s commitment to blending luxury, heritage, and next-gen tech. With OTA capability extended to over 2.5 million cars across 85 countries, Volvo is positioning itself at the forefront of automotive innovation.
