What strikes you about Marina Bay Sands—no matter how many times you’ve visited—is its arresting architecture.
Designed by legendary architect Moshe Safdie with the concept of creating a contemporary Garden City, the integrated resort sits along the picturesque waterfront facing the Singapore Strait, weaving together modernity with the beauty of nature.
Recently, the refurbishment of its hotel rooms and suites has seen a remarkable transformation to the landmark destination.
Just before the holiday season began, I checked into the newly refurbished Sands Premier Room, and it’s easy to see why the renovations have been much raved about. The interiors are softened with a neutral colour palette that adds to the discreet glamour of the place.
But what’s really impressive about the rooms is the attention to detail. A bespoke Armoire and a cocktail trolley, stocked with pre-mixed cocktails is not something you would usually expect for a room like this.
Meanwhile, the mini bar is well-stocked, including instant Ramen noodles, an Asian necessity. But Marina Bay Sands has decided to take it up a notch, by including porcelain bowls and matching chopsticks. Now, that’s attention to detail. There’s also the massive 75” television with integrated smart technology, so you can plug in your own entertainment.
We were also shown around the impressive suites of The Paiza Collection, located on the resort’s highest floors, offering unparalleled views of the city skyline.
The interiors bear a close resemblance to the Sands Premier Rooms with many of the same amenities but here, guests can expect a more personalised experience with a 24-hour butler service and a more spacious setting.
For The Signature Suite, there’s an 85” Samsung television with a Yamaha sound bar with a karaoke feature for nights in. The rooms are soundproofed to limit noise so fret not, in case you’re worried about your singing skills.
Meanwhile, the Paiza Royal Collection offers magnificent suite living. The Chairman comes with an expansive living area with the choice of up to four bedrooms.
There is enough space for entertaining guests on a grand scale with a fully stocked kitchen and even a grand piano. For the utmost privacy, there’s also a private gym and spa facilities within the room.
The refurbishment is the resort’s biggest reinvestment programme since its opening in 2010, at a whopping US$1 billion.
While many come to Marina Bay Sands for the year-round activities, the allure is also in the luxurious hotel amenities that are aimed to meet the demands of travellers who yearn for an elevated hotel stay while being just a stone’s throw away from the resort’s many attractions.
Combining unparalleled luxury with exceptional service with the added convenience of having everything you need right at your doorstep, this is the perfect destination to unwind and recharge on your own terms.
