Six Senses Opens New Resorts In Three Culturally Rich Countries

Six Senses expands its portfolio of properties to distinct destinations that offer a wide variety of experiences.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts has announced three new resorts that it has added to its portfolio of properties around the world.

The first is Six Senses Bhutan’s fifth and final lodge Six Senses Bumthang. The opening marks the completion of a circuit that will take guests on a journey across the western and central valleys of the Kingdom. This comes six months after the opening of the “Traditional Birdwatching Bridge” in Gangtey.

Bumthang is considered as Bhutan’s spiritual heartland and acts as the gateway to the east and the site of some of the country’s earliest settlements. It is home to some of the most ancient monasteries and sacred monuments. The region is also known for its four valleys, covered in pristine forests and meandering rivers, dotted with quaint villages, lush pastures and farming fields.

The lodge, set within a pine forest on a hillside and above a bubbling, trout-filled stream is often referred to as the “Forest Within A Forest”. As part of Six Senses conservation efforts, the accommodations are built around the trees instead of clearing them. In total there are eight suites with spacious balconies and calming forest views across the valley.

The five-lodge, five-valley Six Senses khamsa or ‘journey’ in Bhutan combines the brand’s commitment to wellness, sustainability and out-of-the-ordinary experiences paired with the country’s rich culture, warm hospitality and omni-present spirituality.

Moving from the forests of Bhutan to the Negev Desert, the new Six Senses Shaharut in the Arava Valley will open in June. This resort is intimate in nature, comprising of just 60 suites and villas. It offers guests an authentic desert adventure with an uplifting experience at every turn. From sunrise yoga workshops to immersive local community experiences, to late-night stargazing sessions, Six Senses Shaharut beckons wearer travellers to sit back and recharge.

In addition to on-site experiences, the resort’s desert setting presents a host of activities from overnight camel camping to extreme sports, hiking and jeep safaris.

Locally-inspired and restorative treatments together with a variety of wellness programs will be on offer at Six Senses Spa which draws its inspiration from the majestic landscape in which it is situated.

Finally, the Six Senses urban collection heads to Rome, a treasure trove of artistic, cultural and architectural wonders. Six Senses Rome will live by all of its values with an emphasis on wellness, delicious food, community and sustainable design.

There is also the prominent luxury shopping streets of Via Condotti, Frattina and Borgogona within walking distance. With Via del Corso converted into a semi-pedestrian area, Six Senses Rome will welcome guests on Piazza di San Marcello. This quiet and colour oasis is named after the 16th-century titular church layered on 4th-century foundations.

This is the first Six Senses property to open in Italy and is set to open in late 2021. Within its, there will be 95 distinct guest rooms and suites, a spa, restaurant, events terrace, outdoor courtyard garden and a rooftop terrace with a 360° view of the city and monuments. The interior design is by Patricia Urquiola, awarded “Order of Isabella the Catholic” by King Juan Carlos I of Spain and inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2011.
