Shanghai To The World: The PuLi Group Sets Sights On 2026 Launch

A bold new chapter in Asian hospitality is set to kick off.

The award-winning PuLi Shanghai is stepping into a new era. In 2026, the property will become the flagship of The PuLi Group, an exclusive collection of luxury hotels poised to reshape Asian hospitality. Under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Victor Clavell, the group will combine understated elegance, thoughtful design, and a deep connection to local culture as it expands across Asia and beyond.

The PuLi portfolio currently includes The PuLi Shanghai, the original 2009 flagship, alongside sister hotels The PuXuan in Beijing and The RuMa in Kuala Lumpur. As part of its transformation, The PuLi Shanghai will undergo a comprehensive renovation, maintaining its serene East Asian heritage while introducing modern Western forms and reimagined guest experiences.

The hotel’s rooms and suites will feature bespoke furniture, original Chinese artworks, and curated literature, creating a sense of a collector’s home. Public spaces such as the Lobby, The Library, and The Long Bar will be refreshed, blending craftsmanship and contemporary artistry.

Wellness will take centre stage with a dedicated floor offering holistic experiences including movement, nutritious cuisine, social wellness gatherings, and curated sleep practices. Guests will also enjoy a Hair Up Bar, a Bastien Gonzalez nail bar, and an enhanced wellness membership programme. An expansive 377sqm penthouse with an outdoor terrace will accommodate milestone celebrations, private entertaining, and curated events.

Culinary offerings will evolve with the debut of The PuLi Bar & Grill, a refined dining concept, and an intimate eight-seat omakase restaurant designed by Spin Design Studio. The Long Bar will also be reimagined with a new cocktail programme blending Eastern and Western influences, with both concepts set to feature across future PuLi properties.

Immersive Experiences

Beyond its physical spaces, The PuLi Group aims to create immersive cultural programmes and collaborations with local artisans, connecting travellers to the unique spirit of each destination. Clavell, whose career spans leadership roles at The Ritz-Carlton, Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, EDITION, and Rosewood, emphasises that the group’s vision is to “redefine conscious luxury—not through scale or spectacle, but through restraint, authenticity, and calm.”

By 2035, The PuLi Group plans to operate 20 hotels, with an additional nine in development, alongside branded residences and retail offerings. While 80% of the group’s footprint will remain in Asia, 20% will extend internationally, setting a new benchmark for culturally rooted, thoughtful luxury hospitality in some of the world’s most dynamic cities.
