RIMOWA Reimagines The Dartboard As A Luxury Collectible

Developed with professional darts brand Winmau, it transforms a traditional pub pastime into a meticulously engineered design object.

For more than a century, RIMOWA has built its reputation on engineering luggage that travels the world. Its latest creation, however, is designed to stay firmly in one place.

The German Maison has unveiled the RIMOWA Dartboard Case, a limited-edition object that applies the brand’s signature grooved aluminium construction to an unexpected category. Developed in collaboration with professional darts manufacturer Winmau, the piece transforms a familiar sporting essential into a collectible design object that reflects RIMOWA’s enduring focus on craftsmanship, precision and functionality.

Rather than reinventing the game itself, RIMOWA has reimagined the cabinet that surrounds it. Drawing inspiration from the format of a traditional wall-mounted darts cabinet, the case introduces the Maison’s first double-door aluminium construction, combining architectural precision with the clean, understated aesthetic synonymous with its Classic luggage collection.

Precision Beyond Travel

Crafted in Cologne, the dartboard case carries many of the design signatures associated with RIMOWA’s aluminium suitcases. Grooved aluminium panels, polished latch locks, aircraft-inspired rivets and a black leather handle reinforce the Maison’s design language, while allowing the case to function equally as a display piece and practical sporting accessory.

Inside, a premium microfibre-lined interior houses a Winmau Blade X dartboard alongside two bespoke sets of professional darts. Created exclusively for the collaboration, the darts feature RIMOWA-branded shafts, custom red and green flights and a leather pouch for storage and transport, bringing together professional-level performance and meticulous detailing.

From Travel Companion To Lifestyle Object

The release also reflects a broader shift among luxury maisons, which are increasingly extending their design language beyond their core categories into objects for the home and leisure. Rather than simply lending its logo to a novelty item, RIMOWA has applied the same engineering principles that define its travel collections to an object intended to be lived with and displayed.

Accompanying the launch is a cinematic campaign starring Walton Goggins, directed by Grégoire Dyer and filmed inside RIMOWA’s historic Cologne factory. Goggins plays a security guard whose quiet Sunday shift takes an unexpected turn after discovering the aluminium dartboard case, using a game of darts as a light-hearted attempt to influence the outcome of his favourite football team’s match.

Priced at €5,500, the RIMOWA Dartboard Case will be available from 30 July at selected RIMOWA boutiques worldwide. While undoubtedly a niche release, it signals a broader evolution for the Maison—one in which its expertise in aluminium craftsmanship is no longer confined to the journey, but increasingly extends to the spaces people call home.
