The Volvo EX90 and XC90 was launched in Malaysia in April.
There’s no doubt that the fully-electric Volvo EX90 is the most impressive new luxury car in recent times. With its comfortable and refined interior, advanced safety technology and distinctive Scandinavian design, the model has left an undeniable impression amongst critics and consumers. It recently also walked away with the World Luxury Car award, solidifying its stature.
The 7-seater all-electric SUV’s arrival on Malaysian shores has been highly-anticipated. As the brand’s most advanced and luxurious fully electric SUV to date, the EX90 has been eagerly awaited by drivers. Fortunately, the wait is over as the model is now in Volvo Car Malaysia showrooms.
Making its local debut as the EX90 Ultra Twin, this seven-seater marks a bold leap into the future for the Swedish marque. It combines cutting-edge safety, sustainable luxury, and high-performance electric mobility in a single package.
Positioned as Volvo’s new flagship SUV, the EX90 is a vehicle of many firsts. It is the first Volvo to feature lidar technology, the first built for fully autonomous driving, and the first to be entirely software-defined, setting the tone for the next generation of Volvo cars. Locally, it’s offered in its highest-spec Ultra trim, priced at RM442,888 in Peninsular Malaysia.
Electrifying Performance
Under the hood — or more aptly, beneath the floor — lies a 111 kWh lithium-ion battery (107 kWh usable) paired with dual motors generating a substantial 517 hp and 910 Nm of torque. With Performance AWD software as standard, the EX90 rockets from 0–100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and offers an impressive WLTP range of up to 623 km. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.
But the EX90 is not just about numbers. Its design reflects a refined Scandinavian sensibility, featuring flush surfaces, a sleek aerodynamic profile (0.29 drag coefficient), and a choice of four elegant exterior colours including the new Sand Dune. Inside, sustainability meets sophistication with Nordico upholstery, FSC™-certified Birch Wood trim, and SunLike LEDs that emulate natural daylight to reduce eye strain and support circadian rhythms.
Volvo’s signature focus on safety is elevated to unprecedented levels in the EX90. The vehicle is equipped with Safe Space Technology, combining lidar, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to provide 360-degree environmental awareness.
Smarter And Safer
Volvo’s long-standing reputation is bolstered with the EX90. Features such as the Driver Understanding System, which is capable of detecting distraction, drowsiness, or medical emergencies and responding with automatic intervention is just one aspect of its impressive list of features.
The EX90 also debuts Occupant Sensing, which can detect movement in the cabin or boot and alert the driver if a child or pet is left behind.
Other standout features include Pilot Assist with Lane Change Assist, a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos, and a digital phone key that personalises the driving experience on approach. The SUV also includes air suspension, four-zone climate control, and an industry-leading interior air purification system.
With bookings now open, the Volvo EX90 signals a new chapter for electric luxury in Malaysia — blending performance, intelligence, and safety like never before. As part of its arrival on local shores, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering the first 50 Malaysian buyers a complimentary charging wallbox and sunshade worth RM5,000.
