Since 2009 the Montblanc Great Characters Limited Edition writing instruments has paid homage to individuals who have left their mark on history. Its latest edition celebrates the cultural legacy of Walt Disney the American filmmaker who brought to life Mickey Mouse.
Created in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company, the design of the Montblanc Great Characters Walt Disney Edition narrates the legacy of this creative visionary.
The pen’s shape is largely inspired by the famous monorail at Disneyland Park while the clip is a reference to the smokestack on the steamboat featured in Disney’s first animated short film, Steamboat Willie which starred the iconic Mickey Mouse.
The black, red and yellow colour scheme is a nod to Mickey’s outfit while the precious resin cap and barrel are decorated with the silhouette of Mickey’s head.
Another interesting reference is the coordinates on the cone area that point to Disney’s uncle’s garage in Los Angeles, California where he rebuilt his dream after he left his first studio behind.
Lastly, the Au 585 solid gold rhodium-coated nib of the Special Edition feature s drawing of Mickey Mouse while the cap top has an engraved signature of Disney himself.
Available now, the Montblanc Great Characters Walt Disney Edition comes in three variants: fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint. They retail for MYR3,945, MYR3,315 and MYR3,020 respectively.
