SAVANNAH, GEORGIA
While millions of tourists throng Savannah every year, the city winds down curiously in the months of July and August with natives preferring to head out to the beach to beat the humid weather, leaving plenty of room for a light crowd. A little sunshine ain’t no thing for intrepid travellers such as yourself! Southern charm and hospitality in the oldest city in Georgia comes all year round regardless of climate. Immortalised in John Berendt’s semi-fictional Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil, the city has preserved much of its atmospheric Antebellum past. Take a walk through oak-lined mansions, go for a cemetery tour or explore Savannah’s backwaters for a touch of Southern Gothic. Savannah is also steeped in Civil War history with movies set in that era such as Glory and The Conspirator filmed there for authenticity.
