TOD’S Autumn/Winter 2020 collection is certainly a tribute to Italian glamour. Think Anna Magnani’s button-down shirts or Valeria Golino’s sharp suits, and it’s no wonder that the world is captivated by their style. The country is synonymous with sophistication for a reason. With a rich design history, Italy prides itself on master craftsmanship, from sharp tailoring to opulent fabrics, and champions a polished approach that has become part of the culture’s DNA.
So, for this collection that also welcomes in the holiday season, Italian-ness was top of mind for Walter Chiapponi, Creative Director at the luxury brand. His take centres on authenticity, sensuality and, above all, good taste. This ethos is very much reflected in the expertly handcrafted shoes and accessories. There are smooth leather bags and classic white sneakers that make for on-point daily staples – but this season, the TOD’S icons are lent a modern twist, thanks to the metal ‘TOD’S T Timeless’ theme, a recurring motif that appears on everything from loafers to belts.
