This explains the unveiling of the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 – a special edition sports car that celebrates the 46th birthday of nine-time world motorcycle champion Valentino Rossi.
The limited-run car is an exclusive tribute to the legendary racer, combining high-performance engineering with distinctive design elements that pay homage to Rossi’s career.
The BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 is a fitting tribute to a man who has dominated both two-wheeled and four-wheeled racing, blending cutting-edge automotive technology with the spirit of one of motorsport’s greatest icons. Only 46 cars will be produced, further emphasising the special nature of this collaboration.
VR Inspired
The model is available in two design variants – Sport and Style. Both BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 cars feature the iconic number 46 — a number synonymous with Valentino Rossi’s illustrious racing career. The car’s design was a collaborative effort between BMW and Rossi, ensuring that the edition aligns with the rider’s personal aesthetic preferences.
The Sport variant arrives in Marina Bay Blue metallic, with the number 46 presented in Tanzanite Blue on both sides. The Style variant, on the other hand, is finished in Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic, with the 46 marking in Frozen Marina Bay Blue.
Both variants feature a range of exclusive touches that highlight Rossi’s signature style. This includes bright yellow accents on the BMW M kidney grille, brake calipers, and M light-alloy wheels, as well as the carbon-fiber roof adorned with a large VR46 logo.
Inside, the interior features Night Blue upholstery with Merino leather, contrasted with Sao Paulo Yellow Alcantara details. The M Carbon bucket seats offer a sporty yet comfortable experience, while yellow accents on the steering wheel, head restraints, and door sill trims reinforce the car’s racing pedigree. Each of the 46 cars in the run will also feature a badge marked “1/46,” making every edition unique.
Performance Pedigree
The heart of the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 is a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. Tuned to generate an impressive 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque, the powerhouse engine is paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. Together with an M xDrive all-wheel-drive system it delivers a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h.
The car’s performance is enhanced by an Active M Differential. It also boasts model-specific chassis tuning, and adaptive M suspension for exceptional handling and precision. The M Servotronic steering with variable ratio and the integrated braking system provide unparalleled control, making this edition not only a showpiece but also a true track-ready performer.
A Legendary Experience
The purchase of a BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 includes a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a two-day trip to Italy for a personal meeting with Valentino Rossi at his VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia. This will be followed by a BMW M Driving Experience at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. During the event, customers will have the opportunity to interact with Rossi, as well as witness him in action behind the wheel of a BMW M4 GT3.
