The capital of South Korea – Seoul, has planned to build the world’s largest spokeless Ferris wheel, tentatively dubbed the “Seoul Ring.” According to the statement by Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG), the new attraction added to the nation will be located at Haneul Park in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu.

Nestled on the hilltop of Haneul Park, Seoul Ring will be the tallest one of its kind built at 180 meters. Currently, the world’s tallest spokeless Ferris wheel is situating in Shandong province in China and stands at 145 meters tall.

As a futuristic gateway to Seoul, the landmark was deemed a meaningful place for its symbolism as a gate to both Seoul and unified Kore. The location is geographically close to North Korea, which shows the harmony and reunification of the Korean race.

Moving In One Ride

Serving as an entertainment facility and a cultural complex, Seoul Ring offers visitors an opportunity to experience the historical significance of the Antarctic island. Moreover, it allows panoramic views of many landmarks such as the “Hangang River, downtown Seoul, Namsan Mountain, and even Bukhansan Mountain.”

Breaking through the traditional design of spoked Ferris wheels, the Ring will create an aesthetically advanced spokeless design utilizing innovative technology. The city plans to work with the private sector to complement and develop more progressive and creative designs.
