Stay on Top of Your Health with the Apple Watch Series 8: Here’s How  the Apple Watch Series 8 is Revolutionizing Women’s Health

Ladies, listen up! The Apple Watch Series 8 is here, and it’s packed with innovative new features that are specifically designed to give you further insights into your health. One of the most exciting additions is the wrist temperature-sensing capabilities, which can help you better understand your menstrual cycle.

Temperature-Sensing Capabilities

The menstrual cycle is an important marker of health, and many physicians consider it a vital sign. The Apple Watch Series 8 features innovative new temperature-sensing capabilities that give women further insights into their health. The sensors on the back of the watch and just under the display sample wrist temperature during sleep every five seconds, and measure changes as small as 0.1° C. This information is then displayed in the Health app, where you can see nightly shifts in baseline temperature caused by exercise, jet lag, or illness.

Tracking Your Menstrual Cycle: What the Apple Watch Series 8 Can Do for You

Ladies, let’s talk about something that’s all too often swept under the rug: menstruation. The menstrual cycle is an important indicator of health, and it’s something that women should be tracking regularly. That’s where the Apple Watch Series 8 comes in.

Cycle Tracking Notifications

In addition, with iOS 16 and watchOS 9, all Cycle Tracking users can now receive a notification if their logged cycle history shows a possible deviation, such as irregular, infrequent, or prolonged periods, and persistent spotting, which can be symptoms of underlying health conditions. This feature can help women stay on top of their health and catch any potential issues early on.

Tracking Your Cycle with iPhone and Apple Watch

For many women, tracking their menstrual cycle can be a helpful tool in understanding their overall health and well-being. And with the Cycle Tracking app on iPhone and Apple Watch, keeping tabs on your cycle has never been easier. Let’s take a closer look at how Cycle Tracking works and how it can help you take control of your health.

Predicting Your Cycle and Fertile Window

Cycle Tracking uses information users have logged for previous periods and cycle length, plus heart rate data from Apple Watch, to offer period and fertile window predictions. This can be incredibly useful for anyone who wants to plan their lives around their menstrual cycle or who is trying to conceive. Users can turn on notifications to tell them when their next period or fertile window is approaching, ensuring they are always prepared.

Retrospective Ovulation Estimates

The new temperature-sensing capabilities in Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra allow users to receive retrospective ovulation estimates. New sensors gather overnight wrist temperature data that can be used to estimate the likely day of ovulation after it has occurred and improve period predictions. Knowing when ovulation has occurred can be helpful for family planning, and users can view these estimates in the Health app.

Cycle Deviation Notifications

With iOS 16 and watchOS 9, Cycle Tracking can inform users if their logged cycle history from the previous six months shows a pattern of irregular periods, infrequent periods, prolonged periods, or persistent spotting. These notifications are important because they may indicate an underlying health condition that requires attention. Users are also able to learn about the Cycle Deviation detected and export the last 12 months of their cycle history as a PDF to share with their healthcare provider.

Privacy and Security

At Apple, privacy is a top priority. When a user’s iPhone is locked with a passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID, all of their health and fitness data in the Health app is encrypted, including Cycle Tracking data. Any Health data backed up to iCloud is also encrypted both in transit and on Apple servers. When using iOS and watchOS with the default two-factor authentication and a passcode, Health app data synced to iCloud is encrypted end-to-end, meaning that Apple does not have the key to decrypt the data and therefore cannot read it.

Important Disclaimer
It’s worth noting that the Cycle Tracking app is not intended for use in medical diagnosis, treatment, or for any other medical purpose, including as a form of birth control or to support conception. If you have any concerns about your menstrual cycle or any other health-related issues, always speak to your healthcare provider.
