Skyward Precision: Bell & Ross Takes Flight With The BR-X3 Patrouille de France

Inspired by France’s elite aerobatic squadron, the limited-edition release combines aviation heritage, technical watchmaking and military precision.

The moment the Alpha Jets of the Patrouille de France sweep across the sky in perfect formation, silence often precedes applause. Since its founding in 1953, the elite aerobatic unit of the French Air and Space Force has become a symbol of discipline, coordination and technical mastery—qualities that naturally resonate with Bell & Ross’s longstanding connection to aviation.

AN AVIATION LEGACY WRITTEN IN TIME

For the Parisian watchmaker, whose identity has been rooted in cockpit instrumentation since its founding in 1994 by Carlos Rosillo and Bruno Belamich, the partnership has always extended beyond branding. It is grounded instead in a shared culture of precision, operational clarity and performance under pressure.

Since the collaboration began in 2021, Bell & Ross has released a series of dedicated editions inspired by the aerobatic squadron, each interpreting the world of military aviation through a different technical or aesthetic lens. In 2026, the partnership reaches a more ambitious expression with the introduction of the BR-X3 Patrouille de France.

Positioned at the upper tier of Bell & Ross’s professional range, the BR-X3 evolves the maison’s familiar “circle within a square” architecture into a more technically layered construction. Derived from the BR-03 lineage, the watch introduces a multi-component case structure alongside a manufacture movement developed specifically for the brand.

Limited to 250 pieces, the edition feels less commemorative than purposeful—a technical instrument shaped by the same values embodied by the pilots it honours.

THE COLOURS AND CODES OF FLIGHT

Visually, the BR-X3 Patrouille de France draws heavily from the squadron’s unmistakable identity. The 41 mm case combines polished-satin steel with blue anodised aluminium elements, creating a contrast that feels simultaneously industrial and aerodynamic. The material selection echoes aviation engineering itself: lightweight, resilient and exacting.

The dial is where the connection becomes most expressive. Constructed from layered components in matte black, blue and white, it reflects the tonal language associated with the Patrouille de France—from the surfaces of the Alpha Jets to the pilots’ flight suits and helmets.

Subtle details reinforce the narrative. The central seconds hand carries a counterweight shaped like an Alpha Jet silhouette, while the power reserve indicator at nine o’clock incorporates the blue, white and red hues of the French flag. At six o’clock, the insignia of the Patrouille de France appears in its signature “Diamond” formation.

Despite the complexity of the composition, legibility remains uncompromised. Super-LumiNova-treated numerals, indexes and hands ensure visibility in all conditions, maintaining the practical clarity expected of an aviation instrument.

ENGINEERED FOR PERFORMANCE

BR-X3 Patrouille de France

Powering the watch is the BR-CAL.323 calibre, a self-winding chronometer-certified movement developed by Swiss manufacture Kenissi exclusively for Bell & Ross. Offering a 70-hour power reserve and backed by a five-year warranty, the movement reinforces the BR-X3’s positioning as a highly engineered professional timepiece rather than a purely aesthetic object.

The case itself remains compact despite its layered architecture, measuring 41 mm in diameter with water resistance to 100 metres. Two interchangeable strap options complete the piece: an open-worked black rubber strap for a more technical appearance, and a sky-blue synthetic fabric strap that directly references the visual codes of the Patrouille de France pilots.

As with many of Bell & Ross’s aviation-inspired creations, the BR-X3 Patrouille de France succeeds not through overt theatrics, but through disciplined coherence. Every detail, from material selection to dial architecture, contributes to a singular narrative—one shaped by altitude, precision and the enduring fascination of flight.
