OMEGA Revives Iconic Railmaster With Refined Modern Updates

The model now arrives with new colour gradients and a distinctly pure aesthetic.

Over six decades since its inception, the OMEGA Railmaster continues to represent the brand’s commitment to precision, durability and timeless style. Now, the Swiss watchmaker has unveiled a refreshed edition of its celebrated watch—an enduring design that first debuted in 1957.

Returning with refined aesthetics and improved performance, the new models pay homage to the original while embracing the brand’s latest technological advancements. Originally introduced as part of OMEGA’s legendary “Professional Line” trio, the Railmaster was created alongside the Speedmaster and Seamaster 300.

While the Speedmaster targeted racing drivers and the Seamaster 300 was designed for divers, the Railmaster catered to railway staff and professionals working near strong magnetic fields. What set it apart at the time was its exceptional anti-magnetic capability, resisting fields up to 1,000 gauss—far superior to the standard 60 gauss protection offered by most watches of that era.

The Railmaster has long been a favourite among collectors and enthusiasts for its utilitarian design and industrial roots. This year’s editions, available in stainless steel, continue that legacy while enhancing the line with contemporary craftsmanship.

Refined Aesthetics

Both new models feature 38mm symmetrical cases and draw inspiration from the Seamaster Aqua Terra’s clean, balanced design. One version sports a grey dial with a black gradient and classic white Super-LumiNova indexes, keeping the dial text minimal with only the OMEGA logo and “Railmaster” name.

The other introduces a beige dial, also with a black gradient, and includes a Small Seconds function reminiscent of the 2004 revival. This version uses vintage Super-LumiNova to maintain a heritage feel. Each watch is available with either a stainless-steel bracelet—featuring redesigned links for improved comfort—or a leather strap: black for the grey dial model and golden brown Novonappa leather for the beige dial.

The polished and brushed finishes on the cases and bracelets add subtle contrast, contributing to their understated elegance. Beneath the surface, however, is cutting-edge performance. The Railmaster models are powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres 8806 and 8804 (for the Small Seconds model), both certified by METAS and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss—15 times stronger than the original Railmaster.
