HUBLOT BIG BANG MP-11 IN 3D CARBON
Always one to push the boundaries with the use of materials in watchmaking, Hublot makes another ‘bang’ by releasing the daring Big Bang MP-11 in 3D Carbon. Inspired by the construction of the highly coveted MP-05 “La Ferrari†released in 2013, this burly timepiece is an extension of the watchmaker’s ‘Art of Fusion’ philosophy as the first time a Big Bang case design is used in a Hublot Masterpiece. And this is no ordinary Big Bang case either, as the carbon case construction utilises the material in a manner not seen before in horology. Unlike most carbon fibre watch cases, a polymer matrix composite is reinforced by three-dimensional weave, creating a lighter, stronger material that keeps the MP-11 at only 90g despite its hefty 45mm size. Of course, this unique material only serves to spotlight the Calibre HUB9011’s seven series coupled barrels that provides an astounding 14 days of autonomy. The manufacture mechanical movement features a rarely featured 90° helical worm gear transmission system, with the balance wheel brought forward to the dial side at 2 o’clock, and also utilises a newly patented index-assembly system. Paired with a black or white-lined structured rubber strap, this feather-light technological heavyweight certainly makes an explosive statement!
