RADO HYPERCHROME AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH LIMITED EDITION

While bronze was extremely popular in watchmaking a few years back, Rado reminds us exactly why this alloy shouldn’t be forgotten. Marrying the world’s oldest alloy to its acclaimed ceramic, the Lengnau watchmaker has created an undeniably dashing HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph Limited Edition. Affectionately termed HyperChrome Bronze (for obvious reasons), the 45mm case is crafted from a monobloc matt black high-tech ceramic with bronze crown, pushers and side inserts. Considering that Rado’s ceramic is known to stay as fresh as the day it was made and bronze’s characteristic patina that develops over time, it will be interesting to see how the HyperChrome Bronze ages with the contrast of old and new on one watch. Another compelling visual highlight on the chronograph is the rose gold coloured hands and indices against the ebony black dial with linear brushed finish. These alluring hands are kept moving across the dial for 42 hours by a Calibre ETA 2894-2 automatic chronograph movement. While the decorated movement is kept hidden inside the bi-material case, turning the watch over will reveal an engraving of ‘LIMITED EDITION ONE OUT OF 999’ that denotes the chronograph watch’s restricted production.
