OMEGA SEAMASTER DIVER 300M TITANIUM TANTALUM LIMITED EDITION
It’s hard to believe that Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M collection is turning 25 this year, not so much in disbelief but awe at how well-loved the collection has become, to the extent that it’s hard to imagine the brand without it. Time and tide, however, waits for no man and we find ourselves with a delicious new timepiece to dive into for the collection’s silver jubilee, the Seamaster Diver 300M Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition, released in 2,500 pieces. Right off the bat, this diver’s watch makes its presence known with an enlarged 42mm titanium case and curious material combination. On the bezel and middle links of the bracelet is a blue-grey metal that one would assume is silver but is, in fact, tantalum – a hard, rare metal renowned for its resistance to corrosion. First introduced by Omega on the exceptionally rare 1993 tantalum Seamaster Diver 300M, it’s only fitting to have the material return on the anniversary model. Pairing this metal with titanium and Omega’s proprietary 18K Sedna Gold gives the tri-coloured model a distinct refined personality compared to its brethren. Another detail that harkens back to the original Diver 300M is the wave pattern returning to the dial and extended to the caseback on the wave-patterned edge. That being said, the new generation Diver 300M has also undergone a facelift for the new age, including a patented conical-shaped helium escape valve, integrated bracelet and a METAS-certified Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 self-winding movement that can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback stamped with an image of the iconic Omega seahorse.
