Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is set to make a triumphant return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025. This move reaffirms the brand’s longstanding connection to motorsport by serving as the event’s Official Timing Partner.
This year’s theme, “The Winning Formula – Champions and Challengers”, marks the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 and aligns perfectly with TAG Heuer’s renewed role as the Official Timekeeper to the sport. The collaboration underscores the brand’s deep-rooted legacy in racing, which dates back to its pioneering timekeeping innovations in the early 20th century.
A Link To Speed
TAG Heuer’s historical contributions to motorsport include the invention of the first dashboard-mounted chronograph in 1911, the 1/100th second Mikrograph in 1916, and the first commercially available automatic chronograph in 1969. Its modern-day portfolio includes partnerships with Formula 1, Porsche, Oracle Red Bull Racing, the Indianapolis 500, the Automobile Club de Monaco, and the Carrera Panamericana.
Founded in 1993 by Charles Richmond, now the 11th Duke of Richmond, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has evolved into a globally celebrated celebration of automotive culture. At the heart of the festival is the iconic hillclimb — a 1.16-mile course rising nearly 100 metres — where records are tested and legends made. The current record, set in 2022 by Max Chilton in the McMurtry Spéirling, stands at 39.08 seconds.
Beyond the hill climb, visitors can explore the Forest Rally Stage, themed paddocks of historic and modern vehicles, and numerous car debuts, such as the 2024 unveiling of the latest Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. The Central Feature display on the lawn of Goodwood House serves as a dramatic centrepiece, with previous years showcasing marques such as Porsche and iconic models like the 911.
Collectible Timer
To commemorate the renewed partnership, TAG Heuer is launching a special limited-edition timepiece: the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Festival of Speed. Featuring a British racing green dial with a hobnail texture, red accents, and a brown leather rally strap, the 42mm chronograph is powered by the in-house TH20-00 movement. Only 100 pieces will be produced, initially offered to members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club before wider release.
