Seiko Celebrates Japanese Craftsmanship And Ocean Heritage With Two New Collections

Models inspired by Japan’s Tomioka silk, and a Prospex PADI 60th Anniversary limited edition celebrating the deep blue.

The Seiko Presage Tomioka Silk collection headlines Seiko’s latest releases with a tribute to one of Japan’s finest textile traditions. Inspired by the renowned silk produced near the historic Tomioka Silk Mill, the new Presage Classic Series blends refined aesthetics with mechanical watchmaking. Meanwhile, Seiko also introduces the Prospex PADI 60th Anniversary Limited Edition, celebrating a decade of partnership with the world’s largest diving organisation.

Together, the two collections highlight different sides of Seiko’s identity. However, it is the Presage collection that best reflects the brand’s dedication to Japanese artistry, making it the standout release for collectors who appreciate timeless design.

Where Japanese Craftsmanship Meets Mechanical Watchmaking

The Seiko Presage Tomioko Silk collection welcomes four new addistions to the Presage Classic Series. Each watch draws inspiration from Tomioka silk, a premium Japanese textile celebrated for its smooth texture, elegant drape and natural lustre. For generations, artisans have produced the silk using locally cultivated cocoons in Gunma Prefecture, preserving a craft that remains deeply connected to Japan’s cultural heritage.

Seiko translates those qualities into beautifully textured dials that mirror the appearance of woven silk. As a result, each watch captures the subtle beauty of the fabric while showcasing the brand’s expertise in mechanical watchmaking.

The highlight of the collection is a limited edition of 2,000 pieces. A 38mm pink gold-coloured case frames a pearl-like dial inspired by rare white silk cultivated in Gunma Prefecture. In addition, a dark brown leather strap echoes the distinctive brick façade of the historic Tomioka Silk Mill, adding another thoughtful design detail.

Three regular-production models complete the collection. Their dials feature colours rooted in Japanese tradition, including shironeri white, wakatake-iro green and sakura-iro pink. Calibre 6R51 powers every model and delivers a 72-hour power reserve. Moreover, Seiko will donate part of the collection’s proceeds to the Tomioka Silk Promotion Organization, helping preserve the region’s silk-making heritage for future generations.

A Limited Edition For Diving Enthusiasts

Alongside the Presage collection, Seiko also unveils the Prospex PADI 60th Anniversary Limited Edition. The release celebrates both PADI’s 60th anniversary and ten years of collaboration between the two organisations.

Limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, the diver’s watch features a vivid blue dial inspired by PADI’s anniversary logo. Red accents and a globe motif add visual depth, while the ceramic bezel and 200-metre water resistance reinforce its professional credentials. The automatic Calibre 4R36 movement powers the watch, and an additional silicone strap offers extra versatility for underwater adventures.

Beyond its technical features, the model also reflects Seiko’s continued support for the PADI AWARE Foundation and its global marine conservation efforts.

Collectors will find two very different expressions of Seiko’s watchmaking philosophy in these releases. Even so, the Seiko Presage Tomioka Silk collection stands apart by combining Japanese heritage, elegant design and enduring mechanical craftsmanship in one refined package.
