Rolex introduces the new yellow Rolesor version of the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller this year, to usher a new era for this iconic diving watch. The new colour palette sees the signature Rolesor, a combination of precious gold and resistant steel to get the best of both materials, bringing 18k yellow gold to the Sea-Dweller silhouette for the first time in the watch’s history.
The new yellow gold takes focus on the bezel, winding crown and centre links on the bracelet, while the watch case and outer bracelet links are Oystersteel, creating a look that is elegant and sophisticated. The bezel features a new 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert in black ceramic for safe monitoring of dive and decompression time, while the graduations and numerals shine in 18k yellow gold PVD coating.
The Sea-Dweller is powered by the perpetual calibre 3235, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, which marks a new generation of movements with several leaps in terms of precision, power and reliability. The self-winding movement incorporates the nickel-phosphorus Chronergy escapement that makes it efficient, dependable and highly resistant to magnetic interference, while the blue Parachrom hairspring and Rolex overcoil makes it 10 times more precise. The calibre 3235 also sees an extended power reserve of 70 hours.
When used underwater, the SeaDweller maintains its waterproof rating to a depth of 1,220 metres thanks to the waterproof Oyster case and helium escape valve that allows excess pressure to escape the case during decompression. The knurled bezel offers excellent grip even with gloves on, while the bracelet comes with the Oysterlock safety clasp and Glidelock extension system that allows adjustments to the bracelet that makes it wearable even over diving suits that are 3mm thick. And to top it off, it is also Superlative Chronometer certified, making this yellow gold Sea-Dweller the embodiment of form and function.
