Florentine-based luxury watchmaker Panerai has officially opened its standalone boutique store in Kuala Lumpur in close partnership with Swiss Watch Gallery.
The official opening was attended by over 100 guests and was officiated by Panerai South East Asia and Oceania Managing Director Giacomo Cinelli who welcomed guests to experience the world of Panerai in the new boutique.
Located in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the heart of Malaysia’s busy shopping district, the new space was designed by Milan-based designer Patricia Urquiola, whose works include the Il Sereno five-star hotel in Italy.
Designed with the intention to blend tradition and the future, the aesthetics pay homage to Panerai’s deep-rooted history in the navy and war.
Recurrent elements in all Panerai boutiques like walnut wood and brass are present in the boutique, immersing clients in an environment that is reminiscent of Florence, the birthplace of Panerai. For example, the brass veining is meant to simulate the waves of the ocean while the watch displays are all inspired by torpedoes.
Within the store, guests are encouraged to discover the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship and technical expertise. Notable features like the large marine dial and illuminated wall clock draw the attention of the customer and add a unique character to space.
Timepieces of all key collections were on showcase including the latest Submersible BMG-TECHTM – 47mm, a revolutionary innovation from the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee. It is the first mechanical watch case made of BMG-TECHTM, a glass with extreme resistance to wear, high strength and great lightness.
With the opening of the new boutique, Panerai now has 81 boutiques worldwide and a total of 4 in South East Asia.
