This weekend, the world’s most prestigious watch brands will converge in Geneva to show their support for Only Watch, the renowned biennial charity event that invites the crème de la crème in the world of Haute Horlogerie to contribute a unique timepiece for a noble cause. Established in 2005 by Luc Pettavino, proceeds generated from this event will be channelled towards finding a cure for neuromuscular diseases such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Now in its seventh edition, this year’s event makrs the first time that Only Watch will be hosted by the prestigious British auction house Christie’s. Here’s a look at some of the one-of-a-kind creations that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with a heart of gold.
07 GIRARD-PERREGAUX LAUREATO 2017 SPECIAL EDITION
During this year’s SIHH, the Swiss luxury watchmaker presented a new collection inspired by the iconic Laureato model from the 1970s. This special edition is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement housed in a bronze case that features several sublime finishes such as Côtes de Genève, circular graining and bevelling. A closer inspection of the dial, which is framed by the octagonal base, reveals the refined Clous De Paris pattern, where intersecting hollowed lines engraved on the dial result in tiny pyramidal shapes. Additional finishing touches include polished hands and indices for excellent legibility under any conditions, while the words ‘Only Watch 2017’ have been placed on the transparent caseback. The watch also comes paired with a debonair alligator chocolate brown leather strap that completes the vintage charm of this timepiece.
