This weekend, the world’s most prestigious watch brands will converge in Geneva to show their support for Only Watch, the renowned biennial charity event that invites the crème de la crème in the world of Haute Horlogerie to contribute a unique timepiece for a noble cause. Established in 2005 by Luc Pettavino, proceeds generated from this event will be channelled towards finding a cure for neuromuscular diseases such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Now in its seventh edition, this year’s event makrs the first time that Only Watch will be hosted by the prestigious British auction house Christie’s. Here’s a look at some of the one-of-a-kind creations that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with a heart of gold.
06 HUBLOT BIG BANG UNICO SAPPHIRE USAIN BOLT FOR ONLY WATCH
This one-of-a-kind version of the Big Bang Unico Sapphire Usain Bolt features a transparent 45mm case constructed from hardy sapphire crystal, which allows the user to fully appreciate the intricate details of its Calibre HUB1242, a self-winding chronograph flyback movement with column wheel that was developed and hand-assembled in-house by the Swiss luxury watch manufacture. Available with two interchangeable straps in either transparent rubber with black lining or a calf leather strap in a lustrous shade of yellow gold, the winning bidder of this avant-garde timepiece will have a chance to meet with eighttime Olympic champion Usain Bolt and receive a jersey exclusively signed by the record-breaking Jamaican sprinter.
