Louis Vuitton’s Capucines Gets A Sleeker New Look

Evolving the collection through new sizes, materials and designs, bringing the Maison’s heritage into modern everyday style.

Some handbags simply complete a look, while others have a way of becoming the look itself. The Louis Vuitton Capucines falls somewhere in between, with its structured silhouette and recognisable details making it one of the Maison’s most distinctive handbag designs.

First introduced in 2013, the Capucines takes its name from rue Neuve-des-Capucines in Paris, where Louis Vuitton opened its first store in 1854. While the name pays tribute to the Maison’s beginnings, the handbag continues to evolve through different sizes, colours, materials and seasonal interpretations.

The latest addition, the Capucines Edito, takes a sleeker approach to the familiar design. Made for both day and evening, it combines a streamlined shape with a feminine draped detail at the front, giving the bag a distinctive character without taking away from its understated appeal.

It comes in grained calf leather with smooth calfskin, as well as a softer suede version with smooth calfskin. Despite its slimmer profile, the bag still accommodates everyday essentials. It can also be carried by hand, worn on the elbow or styled with its short shoulder strap.

Much of the Capucines’ appeal, however, comes down to its details. The side rings add a subtle functional element while drawing inspiration from the riveted details of Louis Vuitton’s historic trunks. Meanwhile, the curved closing flap creates a softer silhouette, finished with the signature Monogram Flower.

Inside, matching lining and tinted edges create a seamless finish, while the structured leather construction helps the bag retain its shape. A zipped pocket and patch pocket also provide organised storage without disrupting the clean interior.

The Capucines comes in several signature sizes, including the Nano, East West, Mini, BB, MM and GM, offering different ways to wear the House icon. Each season, Louis Vuitton also explores new colours, prints and materials, giving the familiar silhouette a fresh expression.

For something more personal, the MyCapucines collection introduces a jewel-like chain with three customisable charms. Positioned between the Mini and BB, the exclusive model is now available in three new colourways.

And that is perhaps what keeps the Capucines relevant. It carries the craftsmanship and history associated with Louis Vuitton, but remains versatile enough for a modern wardrobe. With each new interpretation, the Maison gives its iconic silhouette another way to be worn.
