Few collaborations bring together two more recognisable creatures than Lacoste’s crocodile and Godzilla.
Launching across selected Asia-Pacific markets including Malaysia this September, the Lacoste x Godzilla “Play Together” capsule imagines an unexpected encounter between the French sportswear house’s signature mascot and Japan’s legendary King of the Monsters.
The result is deliberately playful. Rather than treating the characters with reverence, the collection places Godzilla alongside Lacoste’s crocodile in a series of spirited illustrations, creating a meeting point between French sport-inspired style and Japanese pop-culture heritage.
A Meeting Of Icons
Godzilla has been part of global popular culture since his debut in 1954, evolving from cinematic monster to one of Japan’s most enduring cultural figures. For this collaboration, he is joined by several familiar faces from the franchise, including King Ghidorah, Mothra and Mothra Larvae.
The characters appear alongside the Lacoste crocodile across a selection of T-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies, giving the collection a graphic-led identity that leans into both nostalgia and contemporary streetwear.
One of the more distinctive details is a reworked version of the Lacoste crocodile, complete with Godzilla’s characteristic dorsal fins — a visual hybrid created specifically for the collaboration.
Play Together
The collection’s appeal lies in its unlikely pairing. Lacoste’s sporting heritage and polished French sensibility meet the exaggerated scale and theatrical personality of the Godzilla universe, resulting in a capsule designed to bridge generations of fans.
It is also a fitting expression of the collaboration’s “Play Together” theme: an invitation to view familiar icons differently, through unexpected interactions and a sense of humour.
The “Play Together” capsule is available for a limited time at selected Lacoste boutiques across APAC. In Malaysia, Lacoste x Godzilla is available at The Exchange TRX, Suria KLCC, Sunway Pyramid and The Gardens, with the T-shirt priced at MYR499 and the hoodie at MYR899.
