Giving the gift of a timepiece is more than just a thoughtful act, it’s a gesture that lasts more than just the present moment. Here is a selection of Rolex timepieces that will truly stand the test of time.

All in the details

Rolex

The fluted motif seen on the dial of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41 is one of the hallmarks of classic Rolex design. Found on some of the brand’s classic watches, the bezel fluting adds a touch of depth to the overall design of the classic Datejust. Crafted in Everose Gold Rolesor Oystersteel, the watch is powered with the 3235 in-house movement that offers about 70 hours of power reserve. All in all, this is an all-rounder classy and highly functional timepiece.

Of time and place

Rolex

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II is built for the adventurous, not least because of its highly functional two time zones function in which the local time and home time can be displayed simultaneously. The Oystersteel and yellow gold model is the successor to the 1955 version and is favoured by pilots as well as land-locked users. The two-colour Cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black ceramic adds a distinctive touch to this robust watch.

Refined air

Rolex

The Rolex Perpetual 1908 in a 39mm case in 18 carat yellow gold with an alligator leather strap only goes to show that Rolex makes great dressy pieces too. A miniature work of art, the “intense white” dial with a slight graining effect displayed against the yellow gold is a nod to vintage designs. The automatic 7140 movement offers a power reserve of 66 hours and can be seen through the sapphire caseback.

Feeling bubbly

Rolex

Aptly named “celebration”, Rolex unveiled this cheerful dial motif in the Oyster Perpetual earlier this year. The stunning turquoise blue dial with candy pink, coral, yellow, red and green “bubbles” is a play on the lacquered candy-coloured dial colours first unveiled by the brand in 2020. Inside this 31mm model, the 2232 mechanical movement is everything you’d expect from a Rolex. First released in 2020, the calibre is fitted with a Syloxu hairspring in silicon, giving it an excellent level of chronometric performance that is 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring when it comes to shock resistance.

Good as gold

Rolex

Considering the Rolex Daytona had just celebrated its 60th anniversary, it’s no surprise Rolex has decided to update its catalogue. The Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in 18 carat Everose gold with a bright black and Sundust dial comes with a high-performance chronograph. The bezel features a tachymetric scale to record average speed over a given distance on elapsed time. Equipped with the new 4131 calibre, the watch runs on a 71-hour power reserve.

Gem setter

Rolex has a long history of using coloured stone dials. The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date in 36mm is a turquoise number that features diamond-set hour marks in 18 carat white gold in addition to a diamond-set bezel paired with a sleek Presidential bracelet. Underneath all the razzle-dazzle is a highly functional movement, powered by a mechanical 3255 calibre and 70-hour power reserve.
