When A. Lange & Söhne was re-established back in 1994, the Lange 1 was one of the four watches it presented to the world. The watch had an oversized date, a sub dial to tell the time and a small seconds counter, all arranged in an asymmetrical fashion. Over time, thanks to this design language, the Lange 1 has become a classic icon for the brand.
Today, there are many different references within the Lange 1 family, all offering different complications, including worldtimers, perpetual calendars and even tourbillons. This year, however, instead of adding on another complication, the brand decided to add on three new references to the Little Lange 1 collection, which, as the name suggests, offers the iconic design of the collection but in a smaller case.
Not only do the watches in the Little Lange 1 collection come with a smaller case – 36.8mm, to be exact – it also comes with a fantastic guillochéd dial, further adding to the artisanal value of the watch. The watches are available in white or pink gold cases, and in different dial colours. The one that truly stands out is the reference with the purple dial, which gives it an aesthetic far from anything Lange has in its current line.
The movement beneath the dial is the manually wound Calibre L121.1, originally introduced with the Lange 1, that offers two mainspring barrels, an instantaneous jumping outsize date, a balance with eccentric poising weights and an in-house manufactured hairspring.
