Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot continues its creative partnership with American artist and brand ambassador Daniel Arsham with the launch of the MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire. This striking new timepiece marks the next chapter after the success of their transformable pocket watch, the MP-16 Arsham Droplet. Once again, Hublot and Arsham tear up the traditional rulebook and explore the future of watch design through art, fluidity, and innovation.

Inspired by the dynamic movement of water, the MP-17 embraces organic forms and extreme transparency. It merges Hublot’s renowned Art of Fusion with Arsham’s signature “fictional archaeology” aesthetic—his ability to reimagine modern objects as future relics. The result is a watch that feels both ancient and futuristic at the same time.

A Wearable Sculpture

This is Arsham’s first wristwatch design for Hublot, and his artistic touch flows through every curve. The 42mm case is compact, made possible by the integration of Hublot’s new, smaller in-house Meca-10 manual-wind movement. The movement is visible through both the dial opening and the sapphire caseback, giving the mechanical structure a sculptural presence.

Materials play a central role. Hublot uses frosted sapphire crystal for the box-shaped bezel, along with titanium and rubber. These elements underpin the Art of Fusion philosophy and provide the perfect canvas for the watch’s fluid, water-inspired form. The most defining detail is the splash-shaped opening on the dial—a bold evolution of the droplet shape featured in the MP-16.

Time as Impression

Arsham has always viewed time as something elastic. In his TED Talk, he said, “My work is about collapsing time. You’re not quite sure if it’s an object from the past or the future.” The MP-17 brings this concept to life. While the MP-16 explored form, the MP-17 examines how time leaves a mark.

Fluid case lines, the splash dial, and clear sapphire components create a sense of motion suspended in space. It’s both art and machine—concept and performance—crafted into a wearable design.

A New Shape, Yet Pure Hublot

At first glance, the watch looks unlike any Hublot we’ve seen. But look closer. The six H-screws remain on the bezel and caseback. The signature lugs at 3 and 9 o’clock are still there. The titanium H-shaped clasp anchors the design.

Daniel Arsham adds his signature shade of green across the hour and minute hands, numerals, minute markers, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. Subtle, modern, and instantly recognisable.

More Than a Watch

The Hublot MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire isn’t just a timepiece. It’s a fusion of fine watchmaking and contemporary art. It challenges materials. Redefines form. And asks us to see time differently.

“Working with Daniel Arsham is a discovery of new design and perception,” says Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot. “This watch is a testament to our Art of Fusion—blending fine watchmaking and art while pushing the boundaries of innovation. It invites us to see time in a new light.”

Daniel Arsham adds, “This collaboration explores the fluidity of time through a case inspired by the perfect geometry of a water droplet. The transparent structure captures the clarity and motion of water—suspended, precise, and always in flux.”

Only 99 pieces of the MP-17 Meca-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire will be produced. Each one is available exclusively through Hublot boutiques and authorised retailers.

In true Hublot fashion, it is bold, technical, and artfully disruptive—a masterpiece for collectors who appreciate design as much as engineering.
