Corum’s famous baguette-shaped movement – the Golden Bridge – makes a triumphant return in an oblong case that harks back to its forerunner. The latest rendition, simply named Golden Bridge Rectangle, shares the same aesthetics as the 1980s original, with a classy rectangular case sporting 18K rose golden bridges and the iconic in-line baguette movement, which has all its parts stacked up in a column-like shape, displaying the full transfer of energy from its spring barrel at 6 o’clock to the escapement at 12 o’clock.
The difference in this version is the sturdier CO 113 calibre that operates at 4Hz with a power reserve of 40 hours and a water resistance up to 30m. While the vertical movement is the focal point of admiration, the parallel 18K golden bridges are worthy of appreciation too. Taking inspiration from the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the 18K gold structures take the form of abstract roman numerals to serve as hour markers as well. The resulting look of these brushed and chamfered bridges inside a case build of rose gold from stem to stern is one of pure Art Deco glamour with a masculine approach.
