6. Fluorescence
Fluorescence is a method used to identify various types of minerals. When a mineral is exposed to an ultraviolet light, it emits a bright fluorescent glow if it contains activator particles in its structure. While fluorescence is not an accurate procedure of identifying minerals, it can still be used as an indicator. Various minerals will emit differing fluorescent glows, which helps identify them as a specific group of minerals.
