17. Quarry
An open-pit mine in which minerals or ore are either retrieved through digging through the ground, resulting in a large hole, or are blasted out of the side of a mountain or hill. The types of rocks that can be extracted from a quarry are coal, china clay, granite, construction aggregate, quartzes, sandstone and many more. These mine spots, however, grow to become an issue once they are abandoned as many quarries fill up with water over time and suffer from the engineering concern of how to drain them,as the entire process can be time-consuming and costly.
