10. Japanese Law Twin
These unique quartz crystals possess an anomalous form in which both crystals are joined together at the base, known as contact twinning. There are three types of contact twinning in the field of gemmology Japanese Law Twin, Spinel Twin and Chrysoberyl Twin.
One of the most common winning laws of quartz, the crystals of the Japanese Quartz Twin are fused together at the base at a near 90° angle and form a V-shaped twin. The unique name of the quartz was established back in 1895, when an abundance of these twin specimens arrived in Europe from the Otome mining district in Japan, hence the name.
