This May, the skies above Kuala Lumpur will transform into a living canvas as the Hermès Kite Festival takes flight at Sentul Pavilion. Scheduled for 17-18 May 2025, the event celebrates the French maison’s timeless silk designs in a whole new way — as airborne masterpieces.
First launched in Indonesia in 2022, the Hermès Kite Festival is a poetic homage to lightness, creativity, and joy. For its Malaysian edition, the brand reimagines its iconic scarves into kites using technical fabrics, turning fashion into flight. With free entry and a full schedule from 10am to 8pm, the event invites both the young and young at heart to experience the whimsical side of Hermès.
Among the festival’s highlights are scarves such as Plumets et Panaches, Robe Légère, and Sur Mon Nuage, which will glide gracefully through the air, accompanied by bandanas, losanges, and shawls, each transformed into colourful flying forms.
Interactive Experiences
Visitors can take part in several engaging activities, including a Kite Workshop, where participants learn to craft their own kite from scarf-printed fabric — becoming “aerial engineers” in under an hour. At the Flying School and Kite Contest, beginners are taught how to launch, guide, and race their unique kites with the wind as their partner.
A standout feature of the festival is the Aerial Choreographies, a series of mesmerizing demonstrations by professional kite flyers, creating synchronized ballets in the sky using Hermès-themed designs.
Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Sentul West and with the sea in the distance, the festival offers a light-hearted escape into a world where art, fashion, and nature meet. With its blend of elegance and playfulness, the Hermès Kite Festival promises a weekend like no other — a celebration of springtime, style, and the infinite possibilities of the open sky.
