4 Asian Art Showcases To Put On Your Itinerary

Over the next few months, there will be some notable Asian art showcases happening in the region. From new museum openings to immersive installations, these creative displays should rank at the top of the ‘to-do’ list for art lovers.

If you’re visiting the region or if you’re fortunate to call some of these destinations home, then here are some Asian art showcases to put on your itinerary to satisfy your creative side.

SEEING FOREST

Following its successful run at the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, the Singapore Pavilion, Seeing Forest, by artist Robert Zhao Renhui returns to Singapore. The exhibition will be presented at Singapore Art Museum (SAM) at Tanjong Pagar Distripark until 18 May 2025 the art showcase invites audiences to discover a largely unknown and unexplored side of Singapore’s urban landscape. The works feature footage captured from the artist’s extensive exploration of secondary forests in Bukit Panjang and Gillman Barracks, revealing a rich ecology not often seen by city dwellers.

NEW TAIPEI CITY ART MUSEUM

Opening on 25 April 2025, the New Taipei City Art Museum (NTCAM), is the first public art museum in the city. However, it aims to be more than just a cultural landmark through active engagement with citizens, artists, and the broader community through dialogue and collaborative projects.  As a driving force for cultural innovation in the city, the museum integrates art, cultural tourism, and technology to foster cultural growth and economic development. NTCAM’s goal is to reimagine what an art space can be, grounded in public access and artist residencies that promote cultural exchange.

WORLD OF ASMR

The popular multi-sensory experience Weird Sensation Feels Good: The World of ASMR takes place at AIRSIDE GATE33 Gallery until 13 July 2025. First showcased in Stockholm as a pioneering exhibition organised by ArkDes, Hong Kong will be first city in Asia to host the exhibition. Building on the acclaimed touring exhibition, this edition will feature newly commissioned works by Hong Kong-based artists that interpret the global phenomenon for today. Highlights of the five-part journey featuring over 40 works and a 100sqm ‘ASMR Arena’ encouraging audiences to embrace the ASMR-like experiences found in the fabric of daily life.

Asian Art Showcases kenny scharf

American painter, Kenny Scharf’s work goes on display at the Modern Art Museum (MAM) Shanghai in Summer 2025. Curated by MAM Artistic Director Shai Baitel, Kenny Scharf: Emotional highlights the artist’s vibrant iconography and its relationship to contemporary digital culture, offering a playful yet profound exploration of human emotion and connection. Central to the exhibition is the Kenny Scharf Beach Club, an immersive installation inspired by the colourful, laid-back ethos of Venice Beach and Scharf’s connection to California’s coastal culture.
