Every exceptional chocolate begins with cacao, yet the ingredient often remains overlooked. This July, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur invites guests to rediscover Malaysia’s cacao heritage through The Journey of Malaysian Cacao. The one-night-only dining experience places one of the country’s finest ingredients in the spotlight.
Hosted at Cacao Mixology & Chocolate, the five-course pairing experience explores Malaysian cacao beyond its familiar role in confectionery. Instead, guests discover its complexity through contemporary pastry, curated wines and signature cocktails. As a result, every course reveals new layers of flavour, texture and aroma.
Malaysia grows high-quality cacao across Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang. Each region contributes distinct characteristics shaped by its landscape and climate. Consequently, the experience celebrates both local craftsmanship and the country’s rich cacao heritage.
A Five-Chapter Journey Through Malaysian Cacao

Executive Pastry Chef Holger Deh and the culinary team lead guests through five chapters: Aroma, Discovery, Terroir, Dialogue and Signature. Each course highlights a different expression of Malaysian cacao. Together, they create a sensory journey that evolves from delicate aromas to deeper, richer flavours.
Meanwhile, the beverage pairings play an equally important role. The team pairs each course with sparkling wines, distinguished vintages and an exclusive signature cocktail. Rather than acting as simple accompaniments, the drinks deepen the flavours and strengthen the story behind every dish.
As the evening progresses, guests experience cacao in an entirely new way. The ingredient moves beyond chocolate and showcases its remarkable versatility across every course.
An Intimate Evening Of Storytelling And Craftsmanship

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur limits the experience to just 12 guests, creating a more personal and immersive atmosphere. Each course arrives in sequence, allowing diners to appreciate the flavours at a relaxed pace. At the same time, storytelling and hospitality remain central throughout the evening.
“Chocolate is often celebrated for its final form, yet every remarkable chocolate begins with cacao,” says Executive Pastry Chef Holger Deh. “Through this experience, we wanted to celebrate the ingredient itself and explore how thoughtful pairings can transform the way it is perceived, creating new discoveries with every course.”
Ultimately, The Journey of Malaysian Cacao reflects Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to showcasing exceptional local ingredients through contemporary gastronomy. More importantly, it offers guests a meaningful dining experience that celebrates one of Malaysia’s most remarkable agricultural treasures.
