Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for gathering around the table, reconnecting with family and friends, and exchanging gifts that carry a sense of meaning. This year, Penfolds brings that spirit of reunion to the occasion with limited-edition gift packs featuring two of its best-known Australian wines: Bin 389 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz and Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Presented in festive red-and-gold packaging, the gift packs are designed for celebratory dinners and considered exchanges, pairing the visual warmth of the season with more than 180 years of Australian winemaking heritage. Both wines are also suited to Asian celebratory cuisine, making them natural companions for the Mid-Autumn table.
A Legacy Worth Sharing

Established in 1844, Penfolds has built its reputation on craftsmanship, experimentation and a distinctive approach to multi-vineyard, multi-regional blending. That philosophy is particularly evident in Bin 389, one of the house’s enduring expressions.
First crafted in 1960 by Chief Winemaker Max Schubert, the creator of Penfolds Grange, Bin 389 is affectionately known as “Baby Grange”. Components of the wine are matured in barrels that previously held Grange, creating a direct link between the two expressions.
The wine brings together Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, a combination that has become closely associated with Australian red wine. Its balance of vibrant fruit, structure and supple texture has helped establish Bin 389 as one of Penfolds’ most collected wines.
Bin 407 offers a different expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Introduced with the 1990 vintage, the wine was developed in response to the growing quality of South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, with fruit sourced across several of the country’s recognised wine regions.
Made for the Mid-Autumn Table

Together, Bin 389 and Bin 407 bring two distinct interpretations of Australian red wine to a season centred on togetherness. The limited-edition presentation adds another layer to the occasion, with red and gold accents reflecting the warmth and symbolism of Mid-Autumn gifting.
More than simply a seasonal release, the gift packs connect the rituals of the festival with Penfolds’ longstanding philosophy of bringing people together through wine — whether around a family table, over a celebratory meal or in the exchange of a considered gift.
As the Mid-Autumn moon brings families and friends together, these two expressions offer a fitting reminder that some of the most memorable celebrations are those shared.
