- For those who prefer their skewers charred and kissed with smoke
Tucked in a quiet pocket of Plaza Kelana Jaya, FooTori brings Japan’s izakaya culture to the suburbs. The open grill is where the magic happens—juicy tsukune, perfectly crisped chicken wings, and more than a few secret marinades. While à la carte is fun, the omakase skewers let the chef guide your palate across a smoky, umami-filled journey.

- Global in technique, but grounded in local inspiration.
Amid the flurry of new openings at Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Merdeka Grill quickly takes the lead. It is now the hotel’s signature dining destination, drawing both lunch and dinner crowds. The menu shines with premium meats, sustainable seafood, and locally sourced produce. Each dish pairs beautifully with a carefully curated beverage program.
Behind it all is Chef Stig Drageide. He brings European refinement and Nordic restraint to Kuala Lumpur’s table. His creations are elegant yet approachable. The Nordic Vendace Roe with red onion, crème fraîche, and shokupan feels delicate but indulgent. Meanwhile, the Cedar-Wood Roasted Salmon with caviar and smoked butter sauce delivers drama and depth.

Cézanne, Desa ParkCity

- Art on a plate, with a French soul and Asian brushstrokes
Taking its name from French impressionist Paul Cézanne, this namesake restaurant reimagines European fine dining with daring Asian nuances. Each dish is painterly and precise: seaweed tart with tofu cream and century egg white; lobster with fermented chilli and lemongrass-infused bisque. At Cézanne, plates are canvases and flavours, brushstrokes—crafted not merely to impress, but to intrigue.
RHEA, Bukit Damansara

- Big flavours with a touch of cheeky decadence
RHEA doesn’t shy away from indulgence. The menu reads like a love letter to comfort food with a twist—Big Ben Duck & Waffle, a truffled chicken pot pie, and a double-smashed cheeseburger straight from the streets of New York, all plated with panache. Set in Bukit Damansara, the new restaurant is where gastro-pub grit meets modern bistro charm.

- For premium donburi lovers who believe in bowl therapy
This minimalist hideaway in TTDI takes rice bowls to luxurious new heights. Don Omakase is serious about its donburis—each one a composition of precision and indulgence. Highlights include the Wagyu and foie gras bowl, a decadent pairing of buttery beef and creamy richness, and the 10 Ocean Don, a seafood lover’s dream layered with the ocean’s finest.

Jhol KL, The MET Mont Kiara

- Coastal Indian cuisine, reimagined with architectural grace
Jhol’s KL outpost brings the vibrant flavours of India’s coastline to the city’s skyline. Housed in The MET, Mont Kiara, the space is inspired by natural textures—curved wood, earthy tones, and a spiral staircase that commands attention. On the plate, expect Goan, Malabari, and Bengali influences presented through a lens of polished creativity. A highlight is the Pineapple Menasakai, a southern Indian classic reimagined and served inside a whole roasted pumpkin. Paired with fragrant cashew ghee rice, where roasted nuts and warm ghee enrich each grain, the dish balances the menasakai’s tangy-sweet complexity with a grounding, buttery warmth—a theatrical, aromatic showpiece that lingers in memory.

Each of these new restaurants offers more than just a meal—it’s an invitation to experience culture, craft, and creativity on a plate.
