Art collectors and anyone familiar with art would know the name Dr Oei Hong Djien. One of Indonesia’s leading art collectors, ‘Pak Oei’, as he is affectionately known, is also the driving force behind his eponymous art museum, known simply as the OHD Museum, in Central Java – not far from the world heritage site of Borobudur. Diana Khoo meets him at his home in Magelang near Yogyakarta.
