To offer a comprehensive understanding of Burton’s unique sensibilities as an artist and filmmaker, over 540 works will be on display.
The World of Tim Burton Experience
The immersive exhibition will take you on a journey through Tim Burton’s life. It features works from his earliest creations to his most recent pieces. On top of that, there are exclusive sculptures designed solely for the exhibition.
A great array of mediums will be on display, including sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs, maquettes, puppets used in his films, and life-sized sculptures.
To mirror Burton’s eye for detail, the exhibition showcases the very best composition. Ten thematic sections illustrate Burton’s extensive five-decade career.
First off, the journey of Tim Burton’s world begins with a section presenting his earliest influences, followed by other sections called Holidays, Carnivalesque, Figurative Works, Misunderstood Outcast, Film Characters, Polaroids, Around the World, and Unrealised Projects. Finally, the exhibition culminates in an exact replica of the artist’s current personal work studio called The Artist’s Studio. Every section of the exhibition serves a story.
About the Artist
Certainly, Tim Burton is a renowned pioneer in both the art and film world. Known for producing gothic and eccentric fantasy pictures, his work is unique and one-of-a-kind. His famous films include popular titles such as Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and the recent hit Wednesday, which premiered on Netflix.
In 2009, Burton’s first exhibition debuted in New York, drawing in over 800,000 visitors. The exhibition ranked as the third highest-attended exhibition in MoMA’s history. This success inspired The World of Tim Burton, a re-conceptualised exhibition to mirror the debut’s impact.
Additionally, the aim was to bring Burton’s magic across the globe. The exhibition tour includes institutions in various countries such as Korea, Japan, Mexico, Brazil and more.
