When Disney’s enduring characters meet Formula 1’s appetite for speed, the result is an unlikely pairing of nostalgia and adrenaline. For Royal Selangor, it is also an opportunity to translate two global icons into something altogether more tactile: collectible objects shaped by the craft of pewter.
The Malaysian pewter maker’s new Fuel the Magic collection is inspired by the Disney x Formula 1 collaboration, bringing together Mickey Mouse, motorsport and Royal Selangor’s signature handcraftsmanship across a series of four pieces.

At the centre is the Limited Edition Gilt Disney x Formula 1 Car, a sculptural pewter race car finished in 24K gilt. Its surface carries Royal Selangor’s hand-hammered texture, creating variations in light across the form and suggesting movement even in a stationary object. A black composite resin base, finished with hand-painted golden racing lines, completes the piece, which is limited to 500 individually numbered examples worldwide.
The same race-car form is offered in pewter, retaining the hand-hammered detailing and Mickey Mouse motifs while taking a more understated approach to the material.
Racing Icons

The collection’s most overtly character-driven piece is the Disney x Formula 1 Mickey Mouse Racer Figurine. Styled with a vintage-inspired aesthetic, Mickey stands in racing attire with his helmet tucked beneath one arm – a playful interpretation of the character through the visual language of motorsport.
It is a reminder of what makes collaborations such as this appealing to collectors. Rather than simply reproducing a familiar character or logo, they recast an established icon within a different cultural world, giving it a new context and, in this case, a physical presence.

The final piece, the Disney x Formula 1 Car Keychain, takes the same idea into a smaller, more accessible format, featuring Mickey behind the wheel of a race car.
From Story To Object

For Royal Selangor, the collection continues a long-standing approach to transforming recognisable stories and cultural references into objects designed to be kept. Here, the appeal lies in the tension between two distinct worlds: the precision and velocity associated with Formula 1, and the warmth and nostalgia embodied by Mickey Mouse.
The craftsmanship provides the common language. Pewter gives the racing forms weight and permanence, while hand-hammered surfaces and gilt details add a level of individuality to objects derived from mass-recognised imagery.
Launched as part of Royal Selangor’s 2026 Autumn/Winter collection, Fuel the Magic ultimately turns a global pop-culture collaboration into something more intimate – objects that can sit on a shelf, desk or collector’s cabinet long after the race has finished.
