Originally unveiled at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams has since travelled to major cities including London, Shanghai, New York, Tokyo, Doha, and Riyadh. This month, the exhibition makes a stopover in Seoul for an extended showcase.
From April 19 to July 13, 2025, this spectacular showcase of Dior’s creative legacy will be hosted at the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The exhibition offers visitors a unique and immersive journey through over seventy-five years of haute couture history.
Curated by Florence Müller, the exhibition delves deep into the history of the House of Dior, celebrating the brand’s rich heritage and its lasting influence on the world of fashion. With more than 300 haute couture pieces, archival documents, and an array of stunning visuals, the exhibition reveals the creative journey of one of fashion’s most beloved couturiers.
An Immersive Journey Through Dior’s Legacy
Each iteration of Designer of Dreams has captured the essence of Christian Dior’s timeless creations, and Seoul will be no exception. The exhibition unfolds as a breathtaking scenographic narrative, designed by Shohei Shigematsu, a partner at the architectural firm OMA.
It offers visitors an unparalleled look into Dior’s illustrious history—from the creation of the iconic New Look to contemporary reinventions that continue to shape modern fashion.
Throughout the exhibition, several themes dear to Christian Dior are explored, including his passion for flowers and gardens, the artistry behind Dior’s Ateliers, and his love for extravagant balls and parties. These elements are woven together in a compelling and immersive storytelling experience.
A Celebration of Art, Fashion, and Collaboration
One of the exhibition’s most exciting highlights is the Lady Dior section, where the legendary handbag is reinterpreted by a range of Korean artists. This part of the exhibition features the Dior Lady Art project, which includes nine unique interpretations of the iconic bag, and the Lady Dior As Seen By concept, showcasing seventeen stunning creations.
This collaboration between Dior and Korean artists serves as a testament to the brand’s deep and ongoing connection with the art world and its influence on global creativity. In addition, visitors will be able to see a collection of works by celebrated artists such as HyunJoo Kim, Soo Sunny Park, and Zadie Xa.
Designer of Dreams also pays tribute to Dior’s legacy in the world of perfume, a facet of the brand that has long been synonymous with luxury and elegance. Enchanting perfume bottles, portraits of iconic ambassadors, and historical objects are displayed throughout the exhibition, highlighting the significant role fragrance has played in Dior’s success.
Notable pieces include fragrances worn by global ambassadors such as Rihanna for J’adore and Natalie Portman for Miss Dior. These fragrances have become as iconic as the fashion itself, reinforcing Dior’s position as a leader in both haute couture and the art of perfume.
Whether you are a fashion enthusiast, art lover, or simply looking to experience the magic of Dior, this exhibition promises to be an unforgettable journey into the heart of one of the most iconic fashion houses in history.
