Paris Brosnan shares insights into his creative process during the Kuala Lumpur showcase.
Art, elegance, and philanthropy converged in Kuala Lumpur as Paris Brosnan unveiled his latest body of work, surrounded by city lights and cultural icons. Under the golden hues of sunset and against the glittering backdrop of the Kuala Lumpur skyline late last year, the SkyDeck at Imperial Lexis played host to an exquisite evening of art and purpose.
The event was undoubtedly special for the arts community as it marked the first Malaysian showcase of Paris Brosnan—contemporary artist, emerging global talent, and son of Hollywood royalty, Pierce Brosnan. Titled In Motion, the showcase was a mesmerising collision of raw emotion, artistic spontaneity, and deeply personal storytelling.
ARTISTIC CONVERGENCE

Bringing together a discerning guest list of art collectors, cultural tastemakers, and philanthropic leaders, the event was as visually captivating as it was soulfully resonant. Brosnan, whose work has been gaining attention for its instinctive, almost dreamlike energy, shared that much of the collection was conceived and created during his time in Malaysia.
“I’m here to do a whole collection of paintings,” he revealed. “To gather the energy and the inspiration of a new place, the time and the people, so it felt a bit more personal.” Transforming his suite at the Lexis into a makeshift studio, Brosnan painted prolifically, producing over two dozen works in the space of several days.

“It’s been all painting in hotel rooms. I basically ran that like my studio factory back home—just paint, brushes and stuff everywhere,” he said with a grin. “I immersed myself in the moment, embracing the spontaneity, the instinct, and the colour.” This immersion, he explained, allowed him to reconnect with the core of his creative self.
“A lot of the characters I painted are recurring ones from when I was a little kid. I paint the same things now, and, for me, it’s kind of embracing that childlike innocence. Being unconventional, breaking out of boundaries, trusting your instinct.”— Paris Brosnan
CREATIVE CAUSE

Contemporary works from In Motion, many conceived and created during Brosnan’s time in Malaysia.
Guests moved from a refined high tea reception into the open-air gallery space, where Brosnan’s vivid canvases lined the perimeter, each one pulsing with movement, memory, and meaning. Working with materials ranging from spray paint to improvised alternatives to his usual oil sticks, the collection embodied both adaptability and depth.
But the evening’s most poignant moment came not from the art alone, but from its greater purpose. Brosnan announced the donation of a specially created work inspired by his time in Malaysia—a tribute to the resilience of children undergoing advanced medical treatment.
Joining him on stage was Cambodian painter Ponleu Prom and his five-year-old son Charlie, who is currently receiving pioneering stem cell therapy in Malaysia following a prolonged battle with brain cancer. The emotional connection between art and advocacy was palpable.
Reflecting on his time in Malaysia, Brosnan added, “It’s been such a privilege to be here in KL, to see the coast, and be welcomed so warmly. I’ve seen incredible local art and met truly inspiring people. Hopefully, guests see something they connect with and get a glimpse into my imagination.”
