Regent Phu Quoc has unveiled its newest cultural experience, ‘Pursuing Fantasia – Journey to The Enchanted Island’. The contemporary art exhibition, which opened on 9 April will run until September 2025 at the Regent Phu Quoc Gallery.
Curated by renowned Vietnamese curator ChuKim, the exhibition invites guests to embark on an evocative journey through surreal landscapes shaped by Vietnamese artistic traditions. Blending the tactile depth of lacquer sculpture with the ethereal grace of silk painting, the exhibition features works from Lamphong Studio and artist Nguyễn Minh Quân.
Together, their creations form a visual narrative that explores the blurred boundaries between reality and imagination, grounded in the natural splendour and cultural richness of Phu Quoc.
Promoting Vietnamese Art
Lamphong Studio, founded in 2015, is celebrated for its contemporary approach to traditional lacquerwork. Their sculptures reflect themes of dreams and transformation, offering viewers an immersive three-dimensional experience.
In contrast, Nguyễn Minh Quân’s silk paintings evoke moments of fleeting beauty and introspection, portraying the delicate tension between life and impermanence. Curator ChuKim describes the exhibition as “a dialogue between Vietnamese lacquer sculpture and silk painting, where the flat and the spatial converge into a shared fantasy.”
She emphasises the journey aspect of the exhibition—not only as a physical path through space, but as a reflective exploration into human thought and emotion.
