Prominent art collectors Aliya and Farouk Khan recently digitised of their entire art collection in a bid to make it more accessible as well as to document the Malaysian contemporary art movement.
Now, audiences both in Malaysia and around the world will have the chance to view The Aliya and Farouk Khan Collection (The AFK Collection) and serve as a repository of the visual and intellectual information on the artist profiles, past exhibitions, and publications.
Prominent figures like Dato’ Sri Akbar Khan and Dato’ Dr. Harald Link flew from Bangkok to join in the celebration.
Other guests and notable artists included Jailani Abu Hassan, Fauzan Omar, Masnoor Ramli, Suhaimi Fadzir and Husin Hourmain who attended the showcase which also featured an exhibition of selected works from The AFK Collection.
The AFK Collection is dedicated to the acquisition, preservation, and documentation of the first generation of Malaysian contemporary artists.
On a whole, the collection comprises of 1,062 works by over 100 artists. It encompasses across all manner of genres, mediums, and forms of contemporary art that have been produced from the 1980s to the present day.
Moving forward in the future, The AFK Collection is said to provide an institutional representation of the contemporary art movement and create an awareness of the history of the art form.
